I might love working out now.

I have never been the type of person who goes to the gym on a regular basis. Or even who works out. I have NEVER said the words, “Oh man, I can’t wait to go to the gym!” I’ve been to the gym, but I hated every second of it. I could never get into the rhythm of working out. I never saw the appeal. I tried a few different kinds of workouts. I’ve tried going to the actual gym. I found it intimidating and boring. I tried barre. I loved barre! However, I couldn’t get there the recommended 3-5 times a week so I wasn’t seeing results. Then, thanks to a friend’s suggestion, I tried cycling. AND I AM NOW A PERSON WHO WORKS OUT.

At first, I thought I was going to die. I didn’t think I would be able to finish the whole 45-minute class. I didn’t think I would enjoy it. I went because I was willing to try new things since barre wasn’t giving me the results I wanted. The first class was a lot. I couldn’t keep up, I was sweating more than I ever thought I could sweat, and my lungs were on fire. Then I finished and got off the bike. I felt great! I felt amazing! I felt different! I wanted to do it again! Just not that same day.

After that, I went two days in a row. I didn’t die! I did great! I also felt very positive! I also felt very sore on the third day, so I’m never doing two days in a row again! However, I’ve been going every Wednesday night and Saturday morning and I feel great. I am less sluggish during the day and I feel happier. I now understand why people work out. Endorphins are the flippen best! Also, I dig the music they play. Sometimes it’s remixed top 40, sometimes it’s techno dance beats, sometimes it sounds like I should be in an Apple commercial. The lights are off and the beats are BUMPING!

I don’t think I’ll ever fully become a person who craves working out, but I absolutely understand it.
